Blog Break
Instead of sneaking off and leaving my blog unattended and returning with vain explanations, let me say it beforehand, “Mi reko gye ma homi aba.” Don’t understand? I said in my mother tongue that I was taking a break/vacation and will be back. But not “right back,” as in television advertising breaks, : ). I’ll be away from this blog to work on non-writing projects, unfinished businesses that I’ve left undone and for a much needed season of self-examination and rest. I figure, I’ll not post for 3-5 weeks. So there, I’ve told you.
Grateful for blogger’s schedule feature, I’ll have a picture posted per week, for those who like pictures, in my photo series which I call, “Not a Word.” Note, I’m not a professional photographer, just trying my hands on a camera.
Hopefully, I should be back with new ideas for blog posts and other writing projects, with God-given direction and focus, spiritually & physically nourished and much more. Then too, Blogger and I would have resolved my font and html issues. You can contact me by e-mail if you would like to.
There is time for everything. It’s time for a bloggie-free vacation. : )
Very soon,
Lady Akofa.

Sovereign God-revised
Sovereign God
I Am the Omniscient God
Will you acknowledge that I Am All Knowing
Thus admit that you know so little?
Trusting your Present
most importantly the Unknown Future
to Me, Who knows?
I am the Bounteous God
Will I be the Unlimited
Thus you acknowledge your poverty?
My Incomparable Riches, your storehouse of supply.
I am the LORD of Lords.
Will you release control of your Everything,
All of your being to Me,
Who is LORD of All things?
I am the Almighty.
Will I be the All Powerful
Thus declaring your limitedness?
My Power, your strength and fortitude.

Let's Pretend
I’ve never blogged about politics. It’s always a touchy issue, but I’m gonna have fun with it today, ok? I’ve sought to know nothing about the upcoming presidential elections in the
If I were an American, who would I vote for?
Obama or McCain?
I don’t know!
It’s nice that for once, an African-American is making history in the 21st century
I could vote for you simply on the basis of colour
But…
I’m not pro-choice when it comes to abortion
I won’t be party to killing innocent unborn, be it wanted or unwanted, abnormal or fit
I’ll not flout God-given biology in support of same sex unions
It’s gross, gross, gross
It’s nice to have a female running mate for once in American history
I could vote for you simply on the basis of femininity
But…
I’m just wondering how you will cope with family life while you’re out there in the front lines,
Receiving direct arrow shots from the international community?
Are you trying to trip me up with your pro-life birth choices?
Yes, I know you chose your last child over abortion, so does your teenage daughter
If I were an American, this is what I would do
I might choose not to vote at all
Or vote for one of them
Only that I don’t know who to vote for.
Remember this is a pretend game, so my opinions of American politics matters not. Besides it’s the vote that counts. And I’m going to vote for my next Ghanaian president, not an American president. It’s not a promise, but I might write a post of

Honouring your parent(s) as a teen or young adult 3
I know a gentleman, a few years younger than I, who consistently came to work late, left work early and was generally lazy. All correction, reproof and counsel from staff members, supervisors and his father fell on deaf ears. We lost touch and finally had the opportunity to ask of him about 2 years ago. He had been fired and sent out of his father’s home, with his wife and lil' children.
Selah.
Still on the subject of young people honouring their parents, I’m focusing this time on being on the receiving end of parental rebuke and discipline. The book of Proverbs has several verses on this discussion:
and from the book of Revelations,
Consider the pattern in the above gold nuggets. It seems that the wise, the discerning are the only ones who understand the purpose for rebukes and instructions, thus they accept it and hopefully, make changes. However, the foolish, the mocker and the wicked who actually need much rebuke don’t take instruction at all. In fact, 100 lashes wouldn't benefit a fool, Proverbs 17:10. And they get worst still, sometimes to the point of ruin.
God also disciplines us, just as our parents do. Why? Because they love us and want the best for us. See Hebrews 12:1-13.
“No instruction = Destruction,” says the Spirit of God.
Thus a Word to the Wise is enough!

Honouring your parent(s) as a teen or young adult 2
Perhaps, I have never considered the essence of this charge or fully comprehended the word, “honour,” until recently. Maybe you haven’t too. There are several dictionary definitions and I’m selecting only those relevant to this discussion.
Honour- great respect and admiration for somebody
Honour (pertaining to moral behaviour)-the quality of knowing and doing what is morally right, e.g. “a man of honour.”
Great respect. Admiration. For somebody…. Your parent. My parent. We could and should give thought to what we’ve always admired about them.
Is it possible to respect my parent even when I disagree with their opinion? I think so.
Could I and my parent respectfully disagree on an issue when our perspectives differ? I think so.
Is it possible to obey my parent even when I don’t understand the given instruction or why it’s necessary for me to do it? I think so.
Obeying and honouring our parents is a daily choice. Even when we think we know better because of the advances of our technology-filled and fast-paced world. They have more life experience, than we do and are much wiser beyond our years. How would you feel as a young person if a lil’ sibling of say, 3 years impertinently asked to ride your bicycle instead of his/her tricycle? You and I know what the consequences might be, don’t ya?
Paul reminded the Ephesians, see 6:1-3, that this was the first command with a promise. Wouldn’t you do what is required of you if there was a promise of good attached to it? What is the sure promise then? God promises that it may go well with us and that we may live long on earth. I want to live a good, long life for sure; I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Note: As to godly young people who die prematurely, though they kept God’s Word, I honestly don’t have an answer. God is Sovereign. He gives and takes life. But for the majority of us who chose to obey this command and all of His Word, we’ll live long and good. I believe so.
